About
I work on the languages and texts of the ancient Near East and the Bible: Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic in its dialects, Akkadian, Ugaritic, Syriac, and Latin. This site collects finished writing and working scholarship — essays, exegetical studies, and philological notes.
The name comes from the Akkadian šāpiru (𒊭𒁉𒊒), one who sends and writes. The colophon at the end of each piece follows scribal convention: title, extent, date, and hand.
